When The Art Institute of Pittsburgh was founded in 1921, America was in the midst of a consumer buying frenzy, fueled by a booming advertising business. In response to this emerging marketplace, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh graduated commercial artists who designed billboards and magazine ads that competed for the attention of the buying public.
More than 80 years later, the mission of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh remains the same – to train students for creative careers. Each year, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh graduates hundreds of designers, animators, culinary professionals, and commercial and visual artists. And each of these graduates is equipped with the specialized skills and training employers demand.
Today, The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, is building on that history of providing quality education in the creative arts.
Since its launch in October 2000, The Art Institute Online has grown to offer 11 online degree and diploma programs. Each program at The Art Institute Online has been designed using the same curriculum we deliver on ground through The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The Art Institute Online difference, however, is that what once had to occur at a set time and place is now available at your convenience through your computer and the Internet.
The Art Institute Online is a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, which is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is authorized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to award Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science degrees. Established in 1921, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh specializes in career preparation in the visual and practical arts and has graduated more than 30,000 students.
